Do vice-presidential choices concern?

.SHORTLY AFTER introducing his compete the Autonomous nomination in 1960, John F. Kennedy pointed out: "I do not recall a single case where a vice-presidential prospect supported an appointing ballot." Still, the north-easterner selected Lyndon Johnson as his running-mate, wishing that the politician coming from Texas would help him in southern states. Johnson tore all over the South in a train nicknamed the LBJ Express, reaching rallies in a ten-gallon hat to the stress of "The Yellow Rose of Texas". After he won, Kennedy accepted that "our company couldn't have held the South without Johnson". That Johnson "delivered the South" is now acquired wisdom. Yet just how much difference do vice-presidential picks really create in elections?
